The Rock and Roll Ponderosa: A History

The history of The Rock & Roll Ponderosa is a long and varied one. The show got its name back in 1987, this is a really screwed up story.


I was working the overnight shift at a small AM radio station in Bridgeport Connecticut.
As I was awake at stupid o’clock in the morning I was watching Bonanza on TV before I had to go to work. For some unknown reason when I got on the air I said good morning and welcome to the Rock & Roll Ponderosa
The show name was born, We went through many names on various shows before the Ponderosa was carved in granite some of the past names of the show have been; Nasty Habits, Whiplash, Nocturnal Emissions and The Metal Shop.

But since the Nordic gods have smiled upon me 'The Ponderosa' is it.


The Ponderosa had its true calling on the Rock Radio Network about 6 years ago
and has grown since it became that fine oiled mess that you heard
every Friday night on Total Rock.


...IT'S MY SHOW AND I WILL PLAY WHAT I WANT TO...!!!!!!

We went from the breakfast show to mid mornings to overnights to once a week on Sundays to Fridays. It’s a long story and I won’t bore you but we are still here and that is the important thing...

As for the music played I LOVE power metal and Classic Rock as well as what you would call Biker Music. I try to play a variety of these things on the show and so far the formula has worked. Once someone asked me what I thought of all of the requests for NU-Metal that I received and my reaction was.....
